Project: Advocacy to Combat Gender Violence in Shrimp Cultivation Areas of Satkhira district

The project entitled ‘Advocacy to Combat Gender Violence in Shrimp Cultivation Areas of Satkhira district’ has been undertaken with the financial support of the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh under its Direct Aid Program from March - November 2007. Geographically the project covered 3 thanas namely Debhata, Kaliganj and Satkhira Sadar of Satkhira district.
- Organizing a Consultation Meeting at Satkhira with relevant stakeholders.
- Organizing 10 Focus Group Discussions with the vulnerable women and children separately of the shrimp cultivation areas on the issue of violence and their access to justice.
- Organizing 5 Sensitization Sessions at the 5 police stations with the police, and 5 Sensitization Sessions with the local elected representatives on the issue of violence against women and children and the active role that they can play to combat such violence.
- Monitoring the project activities and hotline service by partner organization.·
